James Gunn Doesn’t Want To Be A Leader Of The DCEU (Or MCU Either)

  • by

Ever since his first superhero movie Guardians of the Galaxy became a surprise hit back in 2014, James Gunn became one of the most known names of the superhero genre. Gunn wrote and directed the 2017 sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and the third installment is currently in production.

James Gunn also became an important filmmaker for that other comic book house as well. Last August, James Gunn’s DC movie The Suicide Squad was released, and the spin-off series focused on John Cena’s Peacemaker is set to premiere on HBOMax in only 3 days.

Recently, the first reviews praised the Peacemaker series, for which Gunn wrote all eight episodes and directed five of them. The series earned a score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, and one of the reviewers wrote on Twitter that Peacemaker is another great win for James Gunn, and added that Gunn should take over the entire DC Universe. Gunn also wrote the reply:

“Thanks for that compliment… but I would never want Walt (at DC) or Kevin (at Marvel’s) job.” — James Gunn

Is Peacemaker a Hero or a Villain?

Gunn mentioned Walter Hamada, the president of DC Films, and Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios and father of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hamada announced last year that The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker aren’t only Gunn’s projects for DC. Gunn is also working on upcoming Marvel projects Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Guardians of the Galaxy The Holiday Special.
