Matt Reeves’ The Batman Gets The Official Rating

  • by

The upcoming DC movie The Batman is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Matt Reeves, best known for directing Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War for the Planet of the Apes, is bringing the newest reboot of the Batman franchise after Ben Affleck decided he will not go forward with his own Batman movie.

After Ben Affleck walked out of the so-called Batfleck movie, Warner Bros and Matt Reeves decided to reshape the upcoming Batman movie as the new reboot set outside of the DCEU. Reeves decided to tell the story about the young Bruce Wayne, who is only in his second year as the Caped Crusader (unlike Affleck’s Wayne, who was Batman for 20 years already when we first met him in Batman V Superman). Robert Pattinson was cast as Bruce Wayne for Reeves’ reboot, which caused some negative feedback from the DC community, but ever since the first trailers were revealed, the hype has only increased.

Now, the upcoming movie featuring Caped Crusader finally earned its official rating. MPA’s Classification and Ratings Administration officially revealed that The Batman is a PG-13 movie, which is actually the regular rating for the Batman movies. It was added that the movie is featuring “strong violent and disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material.” Well, it’s a Batman movie, we didn’t expect anything less.

It’s known that the Batman movies are supposed to be as dark as the PG-13 rating allows. Although some fans probably wouldn’t mind seeing an R-rated Batman movie, that’s already out of this topic. Previous trailers for The Batman showed us that the movie will feature a grounded version of the Dark Knight, and we can’t wait to see how Matt Reeves decided to bring that whole package to the big screen.

The Batman is set to be released on March 4, 2022. Two sequels are planned and two spin-off shows for HBOMax are in development.
