At today’s first Netflix event called TUDUM, the streaming giant released the first trailer for Army of the Dead prequel Army of Thieves.
Army of Thieves, not at all surprising prequel to one of the most-watched Netflix movies of all time, Army of the Dead, is set about six years before Zack Snyder’s zombie blockbuster. Matthias Schweighöfer is the director of the movie, but is also starring as Ludwig Dieter. He directed the movie and produced it together with Zack Snyder and his wife and producing partner Deborah Snyder, Dan Maag and Wesley Coller. Snyder and Shay Hatten wrote the story and Hatten fleshed out the script.

This will be the second, but not the last movie in the Army franchise. Netflix already made a deal with Snyder to continue developing this world, and we are sure they will, all the way until people start watching it.
From what we know so far, we are getting this prequel and a new anime backstory prequel is in the works, and we really hope to get a sequel to it one day.
Here’s the official synopsis for Army of Thieves.
In this prequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.
Army of Thieves is coming to Netflix on October 29th while Army of the Dead is currently on.
