New Stranger Things Season 4 Trailer Introduces Viewers to the Creel House

Of all the shows that Netflix brought to last weekend’s Tumdum event, none are probably quite as anticipated as the upcoming fourth season of its supernatural series Stranger Things.

It’s been three years since we last saw the kids from Hawkins, Indiana, and in this upcoming season, it looks like we’ll get to see them checking out a new supernatural mystery at an abandoned mansion known as the Creel House.

The streaming service debuted its longest look yet of the upcoming season, featuring a young family moving into a large, Second Empire-styled home in what appears to be the late 1940s or early 1950s. The classic atomic family of the post-war era, ready to settle into an idyllic American Middle Class existence, they begin experiencing some—dare I say—strange things in their new home. The lights and electricity start flickering, dead rabbits show up on their doorstep, and from the looks of things, the father ends up murdering his two children.

Flash forward, and the house has been abandoned for decades, just in time for the Hawkins kids to investigate, first throwing a rock through the somehow still-intact stained-glass window. Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) asks what clues they’re supposed to be looking at, while Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) quotes Sherlock Holmes back to him, to the eye rolls of his companions. From there, we see a creepy clock ticking away in the Upside-Down, hinting that the gang hasn’t left the supernatural world behind as they grow older.

The trailer—like the others that the streaming service has already released—doesn’t give away any real hints as to how this will figure into the upcoming season, and we don’t see anything of David Harbour’s Jim Hopper or much of the of the cast (other than Caleb McLaughlin’s Lucas Sinclair, or Sadie Sink’s Max). Netflix also didn’t say when the series would debut, other than that it will be some time in 2022.
