So get ready for all the rom-coms, steamy romance books and lighter romance reads!

My list skews more towards contemporary romance and historical romance so if you are looking for other genres within romance…this list is probably void of them. I am always welcome to recommendations for other romance genres!

I would love love love to hear your favorite new romantic reads (whether they be actual romance novels or any kind of book with a strong romance or love story!) in the comments!

A Little Tip…

You know how much I love workplace rivalry romances a la The Hating Game. Pair that with an armchair getaway to the Galapagos Island and you’ve got one of my most anticipated new romances for 2021!

What it’s about: Work rivals, who have never met because one of them works remotely but whose emails back to each other sure are fiery,  are both up for a job promotion at their cruise line company that requires them to create a marketing proposal for how to boost bookings to the Galapagos.

This proposal requires that both of them must take a cruise TO the Galapagos together and the two finally meet.

The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Out January 26, 2021

I’m actually reading this one right now and I am LOVING the hate-to-love workplace romance. SO MUCH. Add this newly released romcom to your list!

What it’s about: Shay has been working as a producer at a small public radio station in Seattle and loves her job — minus the new guy who thinks he knows EVERYTHING just because he has a master’s degree in this stuff.

When word that the station is struggling gets out, the team brainstorms new show ideas to increase listeners and lands on Shay’s idea about having a show about relationships and dating hosted by two exes.

The only catch to the great idea? Their boss decides Shay and her work nemesis should host it together pretending to be exes since it’s common knowledge they loathe each other. When the show takes off, maintaining the lie and their growing feelings for one another gets tricky.

The Dating Plan by Sarah Desai
Out March 16, 2021

I picked this as my Book of the Month and devoured this one! Super cute, not very steamy though the sexual tension at certain points is crazy in this second chance faux engagement romcom.

What it’s about: Daisy Patel is sick of her meddling family trying to find her a husband — especially when she doesn’t have time with work stuff going on.

Liam Murphy is the guy who broke her heart on prom night who she hasn’t seen until she runs into him at a conference. He’s now a venture capitalist who needs to be legitimately married in order to receive an important inheritance from his grandfather and he realizes Daisy, though she seems to hate him now, would be the perfect solution considering the arrangement would help her situation with her family.

The two plan some dates to legitimize their relationship and sparks fly and answers from the past are unearthed.

The Devil in Her Bed by Kerrigan Byrne
Out March 19, 2021

This seems a little darker of a plot than most of the historical romance I end up reading but it sounds sooo good!

What it’s about: The Earl of Devlin, often called the Devil of Dorset, is a powerful man who secretly serves the Crown as one of the most dangerous weapons. He meets his match when he meets a countess named Francesca who has plenty of secrets of her own, such as: she’s a countess by day but a fury of vengeance exacting revenge by night for the death of her family. But there’s one secret of hers that could tear what they begin to have apart once he finds out the truth.

When she realizes she’s not equipped to do it solo, she ends up hiring a professional to help her complete the trip — a man who she makes a connection with that rocks the boat of her life with the prospect of a new future and fresh start.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert
Out March 9, 2021

I love this series and these sisters and I want to read this but I REALLY don’t want it to end! Can’t wait to see Eve in this opposites attract romance! Honestly this is one of the best romance series out there for me.

What it’s about: Opposites attract when Eve Brown, equal parts charm and chaos, applies for a job as a chef and meets an uptight, put-together man who does not want this human tornado anywhere near him or his B&B kitchen as chef but is forced to accept her help when a little accident occurs!!

A Rogue To Remember by Emily Sullivan

A new historical romance series and the first book is a second chance, childhood friends to lovers romance! Honestly one of my most anticipated historical romances for the first half of this year!

What it’s about: A seasoned spy sets out to rescue the childhood friend he once loved from a reputation-destroying rumor—only to discover that she is actually the source who tried to ruin her own reputation and flee the country so she didn’t have to marry like her uncle wanted her to.

Another Victorian romance novel with an unlikely romantic pairing!

What it’s about: A Royal Academy painter finds a naked man passed out in an alley, covers him up and finds help for him.

The Hating Game is one of all time favorite romances and I’m so excited for a new Sally Thorne.

Hopeless romantic? Childhood crush? Iconic romantic dates from films? I need this more than words than say.

What it’s about: Brenden is a hopeless romantic who loves love and has created a dating app for everyone to find their one true pairing…something he’s failed to do yet though he hasn’t lost faith on that.

When his sister’s best friend and childhood crush comes into town temporarily before a big move, they decided to hang out. When he finds out that she’s given up on dating he decides to show her romance isn’t dead by recreating iconic dates from his fave romcoms — even though she clearly doesn’t plan on staying around and he wants forever.

A Lowcountry Bride by Preslaysa Williams
Out June 1, 2021

A Southern-set romance with a Black heroine who also has a chronic illness definitely is on my must-read new romance list!

What it’s about: Maya’s dream is to be the head designer for a big bridal gown designer brand. She is so close to her dream when she has to take some time off to return to South Carolina when her dad breaks his hip.

Trying to make some money during this unpaid time off she drops by a black-owned bridal shop in hopes of selling some of her designs. The shop is owned by Derek who is desperately trying to keep the doors opened on his mom’s shop plus deal with, as a widower, trying to reconnect with his almost teenage daughter who is still reeling from the loss of her mother.

Sparks fly but it’s the last thing either one of them thinks they need with Maya only there temporarily and Derek needing to get his life in order.

Satisfaction Guaranteed by Karelia Stetz-Waters
Out June 1, 2021

This one looks like an adorable f/f opposites attract romance!

What it’s about: When Cade inherits her aunt’s sex shop after her funeral, she ends up having to stay around longer instead of going back home because the shop needs saving from foreclosure.

Making it profitable again isn’t as easy as she hoped especially with Selena who is her new business partner with no business sense but who she finds infuriatingly attracted to. Cade isn’t who Selena would normally go for but that doesn’t stop her attraction nor does the fact Cade is only there temporarily.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
Out June 1, 2021

A sapphic Kate & Leopold (seriously loved that movie) and I could not be more excited!! This is definitely on my must read romance list!

What it’s about: “A 23-year-old realises her subway crush is displaced from 1970’s Brooklyn, and she must do everything in her power to help her – and try not to fall in love with the girl lost in time – before it’s too late”

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams
Out June 8, 2021

I have been really into the second chance romances lately and this one features two Black writers — one a writer of best-selling erotica and one a literary fiction writer — who reconnect after many years.

What it’s about: Authors Shane and Eva reunite at a literary event in NYC after twenty years prior they had one crazy week falling in love as teenagers. They pretend everything is fine, though they BOTH have been writing one another into their novels, but sparks fly while Shane is in town, trauma is unearthed and no question gets left unanswered before his week in town is over.

The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton
Out June 15, 2021

There’s picking a book solely by its cover but have you ever wanted to read a book solely because of it’s title? JUST ME? Because this title made me add immediately without seeing what it was about: society of lady scoundrels did it for me.

What it’s about: “A prim and proper lady thief must save her aunt from a crazed pirate and his dangerously charming henchman in this fantastical historical romance.”

To Sir, With Love by Lauren Layne
Out June 29, 2021

Love is Blind meets You’ve Got Mail. OKAY, i see you and I want in.

What it’s about:  It’s about two thirty-somethings who meet on a blind dating app—only to realize that their online chemistry is nothing compared to their offline rivalry in which he’s trying to buy up her late father’s struggling champagne shop to turn it into a parking garage in midtown Manhattan.

West End Earl by Bethany Bennett
Out June 29, 2021

Oh Regency fans, yoohoo, where are you? This one is a second book in a new series!

What it’s about: Calvin, the Earl of Carlyle, realizes the land steward he’s been noticing isn’t in fact a man but rather a girl disguised as a man. Ophelia has been disguised as “Adam” for the last 10 years, so that she can avoid being forced into a marriage by her uncle who has been trying to find her all these years and the revelation of her real identity could jeopardize everything.
